DARTMOUTH FILM SOCIETY: FALL 2020 ROUNDUP

A ROUNDUP OF DFS'S FALL 2020 SCREENING SERIES

Founded in 1949, Dartmouth Film Society (DFS) was the first student-led organization within the United States to provide a discussion space for films. Members meet weekly to discuss screenings that are presented by the Hop. DFS's mission is to provide a platform for stories that are not typically presented by theaters or universities. Barry Jenkins and David Harbour ('97) are only a couple of the notable guests who have shared their experiences and intellects with the student group. For over 70 years, DFS has allowed students to find job opportunities, share unique backgrounds, and start productive social dialogue via film.

Dartmouth Film Society (DFS) recently finished off its Fall 2020 film screening series. Given the novel circumstances amidst COVID-19, this term's discussions were held via Zoom. Here are analyses of four of the ten films presented throughout the term, which explore how color and costume design intersect to portray themes of identity and nonconformism.
